Dr Daniel Allbon

Dr Allbon’s areas of expertise include:

• Refractive Cataract Surgery
• Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) including the Hydrus Microstent and iStent
• Glaucoma Filtering Surgery including Trabeculectomy and ‘Preserflo Microshunts’
• Glaucoma Drainage Devices such as Paul and Baerveldt Tubes
• Laser-based glaucoma treatments such as Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) and Diode laser
• Oculoplastic surgery including entropion/ ectropion repair, periocular skin cancer removal and reconstruction, ptosis surgery and upper lid blepharoplasty

Dr Allbon is passionate about delivering patient-centred and evidence-based care tailored to suit each patients needs. 

Dr Allbon obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) from the University of Otago, and thereafter obtained Distinction when undertaking his Postgraduate Diploma in Ophthalmic Basic Sciences (PGDipOphthBS Distinction) from the University of Otago.

After completing his specialist ophthalmology training throughout New Zealand he then completed his Glaucoma Fellowship at the University of Auckland’s Greenlane Eye Department, followed by an additional 6-month training in Oculoplastic surgery.

Dr Allbon enjoys splitting his time at the Gold Coast University Hospital where he is involved in training and supervising the next generation of future Ophthalmologists.

He is a member of several prestigious organisations including the Australian and New Zealand Glaucoma Society (ANZGS) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and is actively engaged in research.

He consults at all locations and performs surgery at both John Flynn Hospital and Pacific Private Day Surgery to provide excellent care to the Gold and Tweed Coasts.
