Dr Nathan Walker

Dr Walker is a Gold Coast ophthalmologist who underwent world-class Vitreoretinal Surgery fellowship training in Oxford (Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust) and London (Moorfields Eye Hospital) following Medical School at the University of Queensland (graduating with Honours and a ‘High Distinction’) and general ophthalmology training based in Brisbane. He has extensive experience in vitrectomy surgery for routine and complex retinal conditions as well as complex cataract surgery and ocular trauma. He also manages common medical retinal conditions such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr Walker has published numerous scientific papers, lectured nationally and internationally, sits on the committee that oversees ophthalmology training in Queensland, and was involved in a retinal gene therapy project at the Nuffield Laboratory, University of Oxford.

Emergencies can be assessed by Dr Walker or his colleagues Monday to Friday, and afterhours by his registrars at Gold Coast University Hospital in Southport.
